Course Description
This course is designed for anyone interested in learning how to read basic electrocardiogram (EKG) rhythms. It begins with a discussion of the physiology of the heart, and covers the normal components of the EKG waveform and measuring EKG intervals. Basic cardiac dysrhythmias, including atrial and ventricular dysrhythmias, and blocks will be discussed, along with an introduction to treatment guidelines for cardiac emergency rhythms.
This course is considered a prep or refresher course for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Upon completion of the program, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the normal anatomy and physiology of the heart.
- Identify the components of an EKG rhythm strip.
- Calculate heart rate based on an EKG.
- Interpret an EKG using a systematic approach.
- Discuss emergency cardiac treatment protocols for common rhythm disturbances.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
A fee of $30, plus the cost of text if not returned, will be retained for cancellations received 5 days prior to course date. No refund for cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to the course date, though registration is transferrable to another person attending the same session.
St. Anthony reserves the right to cancel the program due to insufficient enrollment. If this occurs, participant’s entire registration fee will be refunded.
