For more than 115 years, St. Anthony Regional Hospital has served the people of Carroll and west central Iowa by expanding to meet the ever-changing healthcare needs of area residents. St. Anthony spreads God’s love by healing and caring for the total person – body, mind and soul – in a spirit of Franciscan hospitality and reverence. The spiritual support brought to the bedside by our hospital chaplains, but also by area priests, ministers, and each St. Anthony employee is recognized as an integral part of the healing process.
Certified Chaplains are available to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, residents, staff and their families. St. Anthony is privileged to have the ministry of neighboring clergy and priests to assist with the spiritual needs that may arise in the hospital environment.
Spiritual Care Staff is available 7:30am – 4:30pm seven days a week. In the event of an emergency, contact the hospital operator (dial “0”) for assistance.
Mass is available as schedule permits from Tuesday through Friday, and on Sundays at 9:30am, in the Nursing Home Chapel. (Times will vary on Holy Days and holidays).
Mass is televised live, from the Nursing Home Chapel. Patients and residents can watch from their rooms (on channel 991)
Sacramental coverage is available upon request (24/7).
Catholic patients are invited to celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick by contacting the Chaplain. Daily Communion is distributed to the Catholic patients by Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Chaplains and clergy are available to support patients and their families as they are facing death and the grief that follows. Chaplains can contact spiritual leaders and clergy of any faith upon request by patients and families.
Two Adoration Chapels are available for prayer and devotion, 24 hours a day. The chapels are located on the second floor of the hospital, next to the atrium, and on first floor of the Nursing Home, next to the large Chapel
Two Reflection Rooms are available for people of all faiths for private use. The Reflection Rooms are located on first floor of the hospital, down the hall from the Emergency Department, and on the third floor of the hospital, across from the elevators. The Reflection Rooms provide a quiet, peaceful environment for respite and contemplation.
Through the efforts of our employee volunteers, the No One Dies Alone program provides a reassuring presence to dying patients who would otherwise be alone. Trained volunteers from St. Anthony staff offer compassionate companionship to patients and residents who are alone during their final hours.
