Respiratory therapy treats people with issues affecting the cardiopulmonary system such as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, cardiovascular disorders, and trauma.
St. Anthony Hospital’s Respiratory Care Department provides comprehensive services to patients suffering from breathing disorders caused by lung disease. Respiratory care services include diagnostic testing, therapeutic treatment, preventative care, as well as smoking cessation counseling and education.
Respiratory Care services are provided seven days a week. Outpatient services are provided by appointment and include Pulmonary Function tests, EEGs, and six minute desaturation studies.
Pulmonary Function tests include Spirometry, Lung Volumes, and Diffusion Capacity. All these tests determine how your lungs are functioning and aid your doctor in finding the best medication or therapy for you.
During a six minute walk, we will check your oxygen needs while walking so you are able to have the correct amount of oxygen at home.
During an EEG or Electroencephalogram your brain waves are monitored to look for abnormal waves which can indicate a variety of brain disorders. Our EEGs are read by licensed neurologists.
Respiratory Therapy services are available Monday through Friday. Nursing staff are available to provide respiratory treatments during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
