The St. Anthony Hospital, Department of Radiology blends state-of-the-art imaging in a personalized and healing environment for our patients. St. Anthony has continually invested in the best diagnostic imaging technology to insure that we provide the people we serve a cutting-edge diagnostic advantage.
From simple fractures to complex procedures, our patients enjoy the convenience of having comprehensive diagnostic imaging available close to home, in one location, with only one place to go when multiple tests are needed.
St. Anthony also provides the benefit of having a board-certified radiologist on our staff. That means that tests are interpreted in a timely manner and results are reported to your physician as soon as possible. Iowa Radiology physicians also read imaging studies for St. Anthony Hospital.
For non-emergency imaging services, patients can schedule their exams with an order from their physician. For patients who have an unplanned or emergency need for imaging, our staff of radiology professionals are available 24 hours a day for x-ray and CT scans, seven days a week.
Used for outpatient and inpatients, trauma and surgery services. Services also include digital fluoroscopy used for procedures such as gastrointestinal studies and joint studies.
Uses sound waves to produce diagnostic images and data to assist healthcare professionals in the management and treatment of patients. Ultrasound is used to evaluate many of the body’s internal organs.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of organs, tissues, bones, and other internal structures without the use of radiation.
At St. Anthony, your comfort is our priority. Our wide-bore MRI features a larger opening and shorter design than traditional MRI machines, helping reduce anxiety and improve patient comfort. We also provide music headsets and blankets to make your experience as relaxing as possible. Our experienced imaging team is here to answer your questions and guide you through every step of your exam.
PET/CT combines the functional information from a Positron Emission Tomograpy (PET) exam with anatomical information from a Computed Tomography (CT) exam in one single exam. A PET scan detects changes in cellular funtion-specifically, how your cells are utilizing nutrients like sugar and oxygen. Since these functional changes take place before physical changes occur, PET can provide information that enables your physician to make an early diagnosis. PET scans are performed once each week on Thursdays.
Additional services offered by the Radiology Department include interventional radiology and surgical radiography with fluoroscopy. Patients with an order from a St. Anthony provider may also receive general X-rays, ultrasound examinations, and DEXA scans.
