St. Anthony Chronic Care Center Earns ADA Recognition

St. Anthony Chronic Care Center has earned recognition from the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) through its Education Recognition Program (ERP), recognizing the hospital’s commitment to providing quality diabetes self-management education and support.

For people living with diabetes, managing the condition involves much more than keeping track of blood sugar. Understanding medications, nutrition, physical activity and daily lifestyle choices can make a meaningful difference in overall health. The St. Anthony Diabetes Services Team give patients the knowledge, tools and support they need to feel more prepared to manage their diabetes in everyday life.

The ADA’s Education Recognition Program certification assures that St. Anthony Diabetes Services Team meets the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support. The recognition is voluntary and demonstrates that St. Anthony’s program provides evidence-based education focused on helping patients achieve better health outcomes.

“Diabetes can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re first learning how to manage it,” said Cara Vogl, ARNP and Diabetes Services Coordinator at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. “Our goal is to meet patients where they are, answer their questions and give them practical tools they can use every day. This recognition from the American Diabetes Association reinforces our commitment to providing high-quality diabetes education and support right here in our community.”

Diabetes affects more than 40 million Americans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. With diabetes becoming increasingly common, access to reliable education, prevention resources and support is an important part of helping individuals manage their health and reduce their risk of complications.

St. Anthony is also expanding its focus on diabetes prevention and healthy living through its upcoming Lifestyle Change Program. The year-long program is designed for individuals who have not been diagnosed with diabetes but are interested in making healthy lifestyle changes to reduce their risk.

Community members interested in learning more are invited to attend a free Lifestyle Change Program Discovery Session from 12-12:30 p.m. or 4-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Education Center. The session will provide an opportunity to learn more about the program and determine whether it is a good fit. The year-long program is scheduled to begin in late October.

“Our commitment goes beyond helping people manage diabetes after a diagnosis,” said Vogl. “We also want to help people in our community take steps today that can have a positive impact on their health in the future. Whether someone is living with diabetes or looking for ways to reduce their risk, we’re here to provide education, encouragement and support.”

The Lifestyle Change Program is one more way St. Anthony is working to make health education and support accessible close to home.
