Transformational gift to fund lifesaving hospital equipment.
At the end of December, the St. Anthony Foundation received a remarkable donation to close out 2025. Carroll residents Mike and Amy McLaughlin donated $1 million for the hospital’s new PET/CT scanner.
“We were blown away by the McLaughlins’ generosity,” said Sarah Foley, foundation director. “This was a welcome surprise and the perfect way to end the year. This donation puts us over the top in funding for the PET/CT scanner — we’re thrilled to have reached our goal for this critical piece of equipment. We truly have the best donors!”
The PET/CT scanner will allow patients to receive advanced imaging on-site, leading to faster diagnoses and less travel time. This technology will improve early cancer detection and diagnosis for patients across west-central Iowa — a gift that benefits the entire region. The total cost of the PET/CT scanner is $1.4 million, with an additional $1.3 million needed to construct and create the space for the scanner to operate. To date, we have raised more than $1.4 million for the project.
When asked about their transformational donation, the McLaughlins shared that they have friends and family who benefit from St. Anthony’s Cancer Center, making it meaningful for them to give back in this way.
