Preparing for Surgery

Before your surgery, you will be contacted by a nurse from the Surgery Pre-Admission office to confirm the date and details of your procedure. The pre-admission nurse will talk with you by phone to review what is needed to prepare for surgery. The preadmission nurse will also make sure that all the necessary preoperative tests have been done and will conduct a complete review of your medical history. This is the time to discuss any special needs you may have, such as translation services, transportation, or necessary items to bring for your stay.

Post-Operative Care

During your stay, you will be cared for by nursing staff, physical and occupational therapists, social workers and spiritual care staff who are specially trained in post-operative orthopedic care. St. Anthony’s Orthopedic Clinic includes private, spacious rooms designed to provide patients with the comforts of home. Their goal is to provide you with excellent service during your hospital stay, so that you experience the best possible outcome. Family and loved ones are encouraged to be involved in the patient’s care to continue the recovery progression at home. Skilled care is available at St. Anthony for those who need extended rehabilitation or nursing care services during recuperation.
